Human rights groups in India say the Hindu-majoritarian BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is targeting homes and buildings owned by Muslims and other minority groups.
The government has deployed bulldozers across the state to punish those who encroach on public land.
Its policies are said to have emboldened Hindu far-right fringe figures to launch their own campaigns against Muslims.
