Trump imposes 50% tariffs on India as US-India trade tensions rise | BBC Newscast

Today, the U.S. hit India with steep 50% tariffs as Donald Trump moves to penalize the country for buying oil and weapons from Russia.

The new tariffs are some of the highest globally and include a 25% fee targeting deals that help fund Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Adam is joined by James Landale, Diplomatic Correspondent for BBC News and Caitriona Perry, Chief Presenter BBC News in Washington, to unpack three stories from the Trump administration: increasing import tariffs on India, the meeting about Gaza and secret operations in Greenland.

And Adam talks to Nick Thomas-Symonds, the minister for EU relations, who delivered a speech in Westminster setting out how he would improve trade terms between the UK and EU, a day after the Reform leader Nigel Farage vowed to tear up the EU deal.
